CD/DVD drive not working when Zinstall old desktop/zPOD is running

On some Windows installations, the CD/DVD drive is inaccessible while the Old Desktop / zPOD desktop is running.

In order to resolve this, you should disable autoplay for your CD/DVD drive on the both the old desktop/zPOD and the new/host desktop.

To disable autoplay, run the reg file from https://www.zinstall.com/sto/tools/disable_autoplay.reg and restart your computer.

Alternatively, you can use the following instructions that only work on professional editions of Windows but do not require a restart:

On Windows XP:

  1. Go to Start > Run
  2. Run the command: gpedit.msc
  3. Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System
  4. Double click on “Turn off Autoplay” and select “Enabled”.
